Corona del Mar Hotel and Apartments on San Pedro – Free rum punch!

Many of the most popular hotels on Ambergris Caye are the luxurious places that charge US$200 and more per night, but one place stands out since it also gets consistently high reviews and ratings from previous guests and yet it’s noticeably cheaper than the others.

The Corona del Mar Hotel & Apartments is right on the beach about half a mile south of San Pedro village, which is an ideal distance for a combination of convenience and tranquility. They have 12 hotel rooms and 4 apartment suites, and the highest price for any of them is well under US$200 per night even in peak season.

During off-season their standard rooms start at US$70 for either one or two persons, and they are about US$20 higher for most of the high season, which lasts from January 8 through May 1. During the Christmas holidays the prices are higher, but still quite a good bargain for this level of service in this location.

The Corona del Mar has air conditioning, cable TV, and all the usual amenities, but they also offer free rum punch and fruit punch to guests all day long. Perhaps this is the key to the hotel’s success, but somehow they manage to get raves from previous guests, which means booking well in advance is a good idea here. Most of their competition is quite a bit more expensive so if this place is full you might not like the options you are left with.

Woody’s Wharf

The hotel has Woody’s Wharf just out front, which makes participating in Belize’s famous water sports like diving, snorkeling, fishing, and sailing pretty straightforward.
